International FC Spring 2002

Internationals FC played in the Beach Adult Soccer League (BASL)

Season Champions: 1st Place
Tournament Play Offs Runner up: 2nd Place

Season Comments by BASL.com

2/17/2002 10:00:00 AM Internationals 3 Sticky Fingers-Sliders 2 Landrum Sticky Fingers was up for most of this game by a two goal margin
before Internationals utilized its rough play to get back into this and steal one. Only 5 yellow cards for Internationals, an all time low. Actually,
most of the cards came on one play where Internationals was penalized in the box. Arguing with the ref is a good way to get several cards in short
order. Sergio Lencina opens his season as he left last season averaging about 2 goals per game on his search for a second consecutive Golden Boot
award.

2/24/2002 10:00:00 AM Internationals 2 PTC Computer Solutions Nets 0 San Pablo E This was a traditional PTC vs Internationals battle won by
sheer grit and determination by the Internationals with a spectacular goal early in the second half to break the tie.
3/10/2002 8:00:00 AM Internationals 6 Lynchs Irish Pub 2 Hodges 3 Goalkeeper George Mavrantzas converted a penalty kick and saved one as
Internationals routed Lynchs Irish Pub 6-2. Two goals each by defending Golden Boot winner Sergio Lencina and new comer Gustavo Lopez saw
the Internationals overcome a 2-2 tie to win their 3rd straight match. Mavrantzas broke the deadlock and got the game winner late in the first half.
Lynchs could have reduced the margin close to full time if it was not for George s brilliant penalty kick save.

3/17/2002 8:00:00 AM Sunrise Surf Shop 2 Internationals 4 Hodges 4 Two second half goals by golden boot winner Sergio Lecina led the
Internationals over Sunrise 4-2. Sunrise led on two occassions but only to see equalizers from Brian Arroyave to tie the game at 1-1 & 2-2. The
Internationals then took the game to Sunrise in the second half with great goals from Sergio Lecina. His fourth goal sealed the game and quite
possibly may be goal of the year as he beat 4 Sunrise defenders including goalkeeper Duane Heitzman.

3/24/2002 8:00:00 AM Romano Services 1 Internationals 7 Hodges 1 The Internationals started short a few but proved to be too much for the
Romano Services squad regardless as they pound the red into submission.

4/7/2002 8:00:00 AM Internationals 3 Crown Mortgage Group Knights 0 Hodges 2 CMG forfeited this game.

4/14/2002 8:00:00 AM Internationals 8 Goalschlager 0 Hodges 2 This game went until the 8-0 score was achieved at which time Goalschlager
withdrew with only 7 at the start at 9 to finish, the result was never in question.

4/21/2002 8:00:00 AM Nobodies 2 Internationals 0 Hodges 3 This was one of the games of the day as Nobodies fields Ray Fisher for the first time
since game one mixing things up in the midfield as Tony Powell comes through for another big goal midway through the first half that ends up as
